🙏 Prayer Request for Opportunity for Joy School 🙏
Dear friends and prayer partners,
We humbly ask for your prayers for our school, Opportunity for Joy. We currently serve 56 students with a dedicated team of 12 staff members, striving every day to bring quality education and love to underprivileged children in our community.
Recently, some of our neighbors submitted complaints about the school operating in a housing area. In response, local authorities are now requiring us to obtain proper licensing and permits. Unfortunately, based on current regulations, schools are not allowed to operate in residential zones without undergoing a costly conversion process through the town planner.
To convert our location legally could cost between RM30,000 to RM50,000 (USD 7,500–11,000) and would require signature from our neighbors for approval. Alternatively, relocating to a commercial property is also expensive, with projected costs around RM30,000–RM40,000 (USD 7,500–9,000) including necessary renovations.
This situation is especially challenging as our school was founded not for profit, but with a heart to serve and uplift those in need. We are not making any money from this work—our passion is to see these children thrive.
